1. Who are The Kingdom Seekers

Hellloooo!!

Welcome to my first ever blog on The Kingdom Seekers!! Wo0o0p wo0o0p!!

I'm actually really excited to see how this going to pan out! I think my passion for writing has been a little undercover one for quite a while now, with the exception of writing as part of my job or that which I've shared with a few friends. But I guess it's now time to really fan into flame the gift which God has given me and share with you all!

OK, who are The Kingdom Seekers?

So the Kingdom Seekers are a group of 5 children who are in quest of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God and desire for them to be revealed in their day-to-day lives. Being children, the way they view life is much different from we adults and teenagers. In Mark 10:15 Jesus says ‘I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.’ Many people find it difficult to engage in a relationship with God which is as free as the one they see between the Father and the K-SGang. It is merely because they have allowed the world and the difficulties of life to pollute and influence their mentality and attitudes. Thus limiting the Father or boxing Him into what their narrow minds believe Him to be. Ever used the phrase ‘I’m just being realistic?’ Well, reality for the Kingdom Seekers is much deeper and goes beyond that which is physically sensed, to that which is spiritually discerned.

You may find some of these kids radical and you may find these kids supernaturally strange, especially seeing that they are able to live so freely and express abundant joy and love regardless of their background, current environment or who they meet without fear. I'm sure that at one point while reading their adventures that you may even begin to think that they're just ‘super kids’ and they’re unrealistic! Well I can assure you that they are definitely super kids and they are definitely realistic! These kids face challenges just like you and I, which you’ll definitely see throughout their escapades. But the one thing that keeps them going is hope. The hope that as they continue to seek the LORD, they will never be put to shame. The foundational scripture for the Kingdom Seekers is found in Matthew 6:33. 'But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.' These kids realise that in order to live and live great, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness must be deeply sought after.

Throughout the forthcoming blogs, you can expect to read teachings and short stories. I truly hope you are blessed, challenged and inspired by the lives of the Kingdom Seekers and hopefully we’ll catch onto what they know, and then begin to experience the relationship with God, He so desires for us to have with Him, and also begin to see the Kingdom of God manifest in our own day-to-day lives.

Enjoy as you read and may peace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord!

2. Saffrah's story

*sing*
Who has the final say?? Jehovah has the final say!!
Who has the final say?? Jehovah has the final say!!
He turned my life around, Jehovah turned my life around!
He made a way, where there was no way...
Jehovah, has the final say!

*sing*

This is definitely the song of Saffrah now that she knows the Lord. Her story, is one which proves that sometimes, if not always, we underestimate the things that children can comprehend. We forget that the world you create for your child, whether intentionally or not, is the same world they'll use as a frame for life.

Saffrah was indeed very different to the other children in her reception class. She was highly intelligent and deeply aware of her surroundings. However, this was not what made her different. What made her different was the fact that she was intensely involved with the demonic. Dedicated to the devil at birth by her witchcraft practicing mother, Saffrah found no shame in playing ring-a-ring-a-roses in her school playground with beings no-one else but her could see. Everyone in her class, including her teacher was scared of her. For though she was quiet, whenever she became the slightest bit angry, her face contoured and the evil in her heart was perfectly revealed. In fact almost all who knew of her at school were afraid of her.

With the little Saffrah knew about Jesus, she proclaimed to hate Him. She was oblivious to the truth, like all who find themselves serving the devil. On the other hand, her mother knew that Jesus was the Son of the Living God, but she chose to renounce Christ's Kingship because her but-for-a-moment pleasures and indulgences clouded the importance of where she was to spend eternity. Through the way she lived, Saffrah was conditioned to believe that the truth was indeed false and that which was founded upon lies, gospel.

So this was the story of Saffrah before she met the LORD.

Salvation is such a beautiful thing because it doesn't matter what you've done in the past, God still wants to be in a relationship with you i.e He wants for you to know Him and for Him to care for you like no other! He loves you irrespective of where you came from and He desires to give you the life you were created to have. A life filled with hope, joy, peace, love and so much more. In mentioning the word love, I can't help but smile. It's a word many throw around so casually without understanding its true meaning or potential. It is a word which can sometimes bring about feelings and emotions we desire not to face but in it's perfection, God's love, fear is removed and kindness is revealed. Inhibitions are destroyed, and you feel like an overcomer. You know and feel that you can achieve anything. You trust like never before, you hope like never before and your senses and spatial awareness' are heightened. You feel free, you feel protected and you have peace and you have joy. And these are only just some of the blessing received, once you enter into the knowledge of the Father's love. Something Saffrah was about to encounter.

Stay tuned into The Kingdom Seekers... there's a lot more to Saffrah's story!

3. Leah's Encounter with Passion

Leah's 8. She's an only child and comes from a single parent home whereby her mother's just turned 23. Not knowing who her father is, many have classed her as a statistic. They say, 'she's probably going to grow up like her mother, pregnant by the age of 15, probably gain one or two GCSEs and not make it through college'. They say 'she'll live on benefits and never really achieve her dreams and share her God-given talents'. And what's strange is that while many have already forecasted out her future, Leah has no clue that this could ever be her reality.

Leah has what her teachers would like to call an 'expressive character'. Quite loud, passionate and highly emotional. They say it's because she's never had a father, which is certainly true for her case. Leah would see her mother move from guy to guy thinking that each one could be the father she'd never met, but each time she'd find herself disappointed with their departure. All Leah wanted was a 'sustainable' father. She was about to get more than she bargained for.

One night, Leah had a dream that would change her life for good! When she woke from the dream, she found herself having a mixture of emotions. She knew that the dream had to have been real, but it was nothing like she'd ever seen before. Not even on television! The language the people spoke was different, they all looked different, their clothes and hairstyles were different. Everything was just different to what she was used to.

As a result of her dream, she wanted to tell everyone that the man whom the dream was about was telling the truth and that he was innocent. But she had one problem. She didn't know his name. All she could gather from the dream was that this man was intelligent, kind and not guilty. Leah felt like she'd known this man all her life and that she could relate to him and him to her. She wished he could be her father. Leah just couldn't take all of it in! There were too many emotions involved. And furthermore, she couldn't understand why he had to die! He was innocent! But one thing Leah was certain about, was that she'd see him again. Even though in her dream, he had died, the story wasn't over for this guy. She didn't know how or when, but she was going to meet him and she was determined to find out who he was so she could proclaim his truth.

If you have or haven't guessed, the man in the dream was Jesus. Leah basically dreamt a quick run-through of His life, mainly detailing the Passion week, which was Christ's last week before He died and rose again. Leah did in fact search for 'the man' as she called him. She told her mother her dream but because she knew nothing of Christ, she could not help. She advised Leah it was only a dream. But Leah had found passion. It was this man's story. And all she had to do to piece the final parts to the puzzle, was to find out his name and meet him. It couldn't be that hard could it? Someone had to have known him!

4. Leah Begins to Behold the Glory

It's becoming more and more apparent to me that the only glory for man to attain and should earnestly seek, is the knowledge and understanding of God.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NKJV)
Thus says the LORD:

Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he UNDERSTANDS and KNOWS ME,
That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,
says the LORD.

When God created us human beings, He created us in His image (Gen 1:27). So for us to be created in the image of God, is for us to behold the beauty of God, is for us to be able to walk and talk with God as we are like Him. Deep calls out to deep right? So when man sinned, that imaged which he was meant to behold was now scarred, because the image of God cannot carry sin.
In order for us to regain that image in which we were created, we are to now behold the glory of God, who is Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV) 'The god of this age has blinded the eyes of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.' And how do we attain this you may ask?
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)
'But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the LORD, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the LORD'

1. Desiring this transformation and the glory of God, desiring to know Father.
2. By the power of the Holy Spirit & trusting Him.
3. Looking unto Jesus, admiring His beauty
4. Understanding that it is a process and believing that transformation will take place

LEAH BEHOLD'S THE GLORY...

After dreaming 'the dream', Leah's quickly attitude turned from being highly expressive and loud, to being quite quiet and pensive. She was so trapped in thought that whenever her teacher tried to ask her a question or her friends tried to talk to her, Leah simply ignored them. Not on purpose, she was just in another world. After the lunch bell had woken her up, Leah's concerned teacher asked her to stay behind. "What's the matter Leah? Is there something wrong at home?"
"No Miss." Leah replied softly. "Then what been going on with you, you practically weren't in my lesson today. What's been happening in that mind of yours ay Leah?" Leah paused long and hard before she answered. "Well, I had a really strange dream yesterday. Well, it wasn't strange it was real."
"Real?” Her teacher questioned. “You mean it seemed real."
"No Miss. It was real."
"Explain to me."
“I dreamt about a man. He was really kind and smart. He helped a lot of people. He was like a doctor sometimes and sometimes he did really amazing things.”
"Like what?" Leah's teacher asked. "Like walking on water and feeding like loooadss of people!" Leah exclaimed. "You mean Jesus?" Leah’s teacher's voice contained both sarcasm and confusion.
"Je-who??"
"Jesus. You know the guy people claim to be the Son of God…" At that point, Leah's world froze. And her teacher continued. "...And they say he died a brutal death on the cross..." Leah burst out in tears, remembering that part of her dream. "It was so horrible what they did to him! That was the scariest part of my dream. How could they beat a man who was so kind and put nails through his hands and feet? And hang him on a cross. He was innocent!" Leah's cries turned into a deep weep. "Leah, why are you crying? This man is probably not even real..." Leah's face depicted anger in an instant. "This man is the realest man ever!” She said with such passion. "Wait... Leah, if you didn't know his name, then how do you know his story?"
"I dreamt it last night."
"You dreamt it? And before that?"
"Before that what?" Leah questioned. "Before that, had you read anything about him or watched anything on TV about him?"
"No" Leah shook her head violently as if to say she was really really telling the truth. "I see, what did your mum say?"
"Mummy didn't know the story or who the person was. She said it was a fagmont of my imagination."
"Figment dear... this is very strange. This story is supposedly supposed to have taken place over 2000 years ago."
"Really?" Leah asked which such childish inquisition. "Woow! That's a long time ago. After he died, what happened, because for some reason I don't think his story ended there?”
"Well I don't know too much Leah, but the story says how he rose again on the third day. And that's why we celebrate Easter." It was then Leah's faced beamed with such a beautiful light. "He's here." She softly said. "Hi Jesus."
Jesus replied "Hello Leah.”

As Leah beheld the smile of the LORD, His words seemed to touch her in a way that seemed to make her soul feel at peace. Something she had never felt before. As she then heard the words ‘I had to die’, she fell to her knees. Now she began to understand why He had to die. She was a sinner. Even at such a young age, she could grasp that she could have never be as good or as loving as Him. Especially as she’d always been getting into trouble for being so loud. “But… but…” As though He knew exactly what she was going to say, He gently said, “So you could enjoy life with my Father forever! And He’s the best!” A large smile grew across His face. “He’ll be with you forever!” Leah was in awe. “I took your place because I love you. From now on you will take on my life by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

5. When TRUTH met LIE

Some claim truth is relative. But if truth is relative, can truth be true for one and not the other?

I know I haven't written for a while.... but in this period, I really feel as though I've been on a perfectly ordained detour in my journey. I've been delving into the truth that I know, or claim to know. It truly is a time to seek the LORD and know what is on His heart for ourselves. As the days have passed, my faith has been tested, and I've grown stronger all to the glory of Him above. Not to say it's been easy... but you get through, if your desire is to please God. And that's what keeps me sane. That deep down, I do truly desire to live my life for God!

One thing I have consistently come across during this time, and I guess has brought me back to the writing board, is the need for the TRUTH. So many are looking for it, and in looking, some have found a lie which appeared like the truth, some started off with the truth, then twisted it to become a lie; but some (oh how very few) have found the truth which they hold fast to, with their dear life.

THE KINGDOM SEEKERS.

In episode 2, Saffrah's past was made known to us. She did not know the truth. And she was not seeking for the truth. But God, in His infinite mercy was seeking to give her the truth.

This playtime Saffrah decided to sit on one of 2 benches located by a row of fenced holly bushes. As small as she was, her feet hardly touched the ground. So she swang them to and fro while gazing at the sky. It was a beautiful day, as many would agree; the sun shining, clear blue skies, and not a hint of cloud. Whilst on the other hand, Saffrah hoped for thunder and lightning. Not that thunder and lightning are evil, but to her, that's what suited her outlook on life. Dark, dull and dismal. Max, a year 2 prefect, came and plopped himself beside her on the bench. Startled, Saffrah slid herself perfectly down to the end. "What are you afraid of?" Max questionned sarcastically. "Mmm... nothing", Saffrah retorted sharply. "If you knew who I was, you'd know I'm not afraid of anything!"
"Really?... So you're not afraid of hell?" Max inquisitively leaned over, inspecting her for a lie as he asked, knowing many people were. "What does that have to do with anything? And WHY would I be afraid of hell? My mummy say's she'd rather go to hell and party with demons, than be in heaven and worship a god!" Max was shocked! He had never heard anything like it! He now realised what he was up against. Before he said another word to Saffrah, he asked Holy Spirit, "Sweet Spirit, this GIRL would rather spend eternity in hell!! I've never heard anything like this before! What do I say to her?"
"This little girl", Holy Spirit replied, " is only blind to the truth because she's never met it. I love her so very much. It hurts my heart to see her little 5 year old heart, which I created, wrapped up in the chains of death. I so want her to be free!" Max's heart suddenly belched with compassion, "What's wrong with you? Is there anything wrong with your eyes?" Saffrah asked sarcasticlly.
"No, but yours are about to be opened", Max said in his heart.

Without thinking, Max picked up a fresh green holy from the bush behind Him. "What do you know about Jesus?" Max asked. "Je-sus" Saffrah said in disgust, "lied!"
"Lied about what?"
"Hmm... I don't know. But I don't like him!"
"You're not the only one that chose to reject Him, but you know what? Although you dislike Him, He likes you. In-fact, He loves you!"
"Hahahah!! Get of here!" Saffrah laughed, "I guess that's the lie he told. Only my mummy loves me. Only my mummy tells me the truth!"
"Your mummy lied to you," Max chuckled, but with complete honesty. Saffrah's face completely twisted in anger!
"Okay, so tell me why Jesus couldn't love you?" Saffrah thought long and hard. "Well..., sometimes I see his angels fighting my angels, so I'm sure he'd fight me too if he could." As if he knew what she was talking about, "But they were trying to get to you, to fight for you and show you the light!"
"What light?"
"The truth!"
"What truth?"
"The truth that your heart is hard and callous. Just like this holly." Max looked down at the leaf. "You were never supposed to be this way. But you are. We were all born with an evil nature, and the lies we are fed push us further away from the truth.
"So how was my heart meant to be?" Saffrah asked, her voice a little softer.
"Your heart was meant to know Love, love Love, and give love. Your heart was meant to be as free as air, joyful, and full of peace." Saffrah's lie had finally been confronted with truth. "Your heart can still be like this. You can have a new heart. You can be saved from evil."
"Really?"
"Yes, know that God loves you and is after your heart. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in your place, bearing all your sins, so you could be free from eternal death. Jesus rose, and he's alive which proves that you too can rise one day and be with him and the Father.
As Max spoke, Saffrah could see her 'angels' loosing the fight and that they were slowly backing off. Saffrah's understanding of the truth of what she could see in the spiritual realm was limited. Her angels were in fact demons, who were now fleeing from the truth. "Where are you going?" Saffrah asked, ignoring the fact that Max couldn't see who she was talking to. But they ignored her. In fact they looked very afraid and beaten. "Are'nt you going to protect me? Mummy said you'll be there for me!" They still ignored her. And they were slowly, but quickly leaving her presence. Tears began to roll down Saffrah's cheeks. Realising her 'truth' was a lie, Saffrah began to see that the angels who were fighting for her, were now surrounding her with comforting smiles all round. Saffrah's cold heart became that little bit more warm. A slow, small smile formed on Saffrah's face. "Jesus loves me?" She asked, her eyes wide opened with a hint of excitemtent.
"Yessss, he doesss," Max answered in childish clamour. "How do I know him?"
"You need to confess that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus to save you from wickedness. Ask Him to come into your heart to make you new! That's what I did!"

As Saffrah believed with all her little heart that Jesus was the way, she felt a surge of heat pentrate her heart. And then, like electricity, a jolt raced through her body. She was no longer the evil Saffrah she had once been. A great miracle had happened. Saffrah was born again. She felt freshly unwrapped, untainted and beautiful. Her heart had been awakened to Love.

6. There's NO Place Like Home

I'm not saying that living in any other time period would have been easier, but to whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48). These days, there is much to 'live for', although these things aren't really worth living for... in contrast to the greater meaning of life. Things like money, degrees, job applications, relationships...etc. Yes.. I may be having a rant, but a valid one at that! Lool! You see today, I believe I have learnt a valuable lesson. One Holy Spirit has taught me on a number of occasions, yet I fail to treasure them. Hopefully writing this will help me to treasure it. I'd like to share it with you...

*Whispers* "This is not my home" *Whispers*

This statement, I believe is central to our faith in Jesus Christ, and not only this, but it actually gives me peace. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the world and even 'churchly' (forgive my own english) activities, forgetting that this earth is temporary.

Saffrah, although she was five, felt a lot lighter. She couldn't wait to tell her best friend what had happened to her. At that thought of her best friend, Saffrah froze. "What's the matter?" asked Max. At that moment, the school bell rang. Max, remembering he was a prefect, forgot that he had asked Saffrah a question, and ran off. Saffrah now had mixed emotions. Some of joy... that her sins had been forgiven, but some of fear... that her best friend would now reject her.

Ten minutes into the lesson, Saffrah felt an icy breeze flow down her spine. Her shudder was ended by an abrupt slam of the classroom door. "Saffrah Bee, there is someone at the reception for you. Could you come with me immediately!"
"Oooh Saffrah's in trouble!" Some children in the class sneered. Saffrah turned gently towards them and said in the politest manner, "may-be, may-be not! But I don't know what i've done!" She smiled and then bounced with joy to follow the teacher. The kids and even her own teacher was shocked at Saffrah's sweet response. "Something's different," whispered Miss Chandler. As Saffrah wondered who could be waiting for her, she seemed somewhat nervous, although her new angel friends had told her to be brave. "Brave?" Saffrah questioned. "Yes, brave," her angel replied. As Saffrah turned the corner she could smell the distinct stench of evil. Her eyes now in focus. It was her 'best friend'! "Mum??!!??" Saffrah said, a little confused. "Don't 'mum' me, you know what you've done!" Saffrah was perplexed. What had she done? Then it hit her. She had underestimated the wizardry practices her mother entertained. 'Be brave. Be brave,' Saffrah told herself. "Oh," Saffrah said out loud. "Oh!!! Oh so you've now realised what you've done ay? You deceiving little Judas! You crossed over to the other side! Do you know what this means? Right, you're coming home with me. We have some sacrifices to make!"
"No mum, I want to stay in school. And I don't want to go back to the other side. They don't love me...!"
"They don't love you? What do you know about love? You're only 5!! Furthermore, I am the only one who has loved you!!"
"Then why didn't you tell me the truth?"
"What truth! Saffrah, I really don't have time for this. We need to get you home quickly. Your new angels certainly won't be able to win this battle I'm about to bring em!"
"Mum, you don't have to do this! Those devils lied to you! They did mummy! Jesus is real! He didn't lie mummy and He loves me. And you too! And He's changed me!"
"Shut up Saffrah." Saffrah received a hefty slap across her face. What she did next shocked her mother. She slightly lifted her arms and looked lovingly into her mothers face. "I really love you mum and I wish you would know this Love I know." As Saffrah was about to receive another one, a firm grip held back the forearm of her mother. "Don't you dare!" cried Saffrah's rescue aid. She had seemed to have come from nowhere, and just in time too.
"I'll do whatever I please. Madame, now get off me!" Retorted Ms Bee.
"Not in this school! And not to this young girl!"
"Are you coming Saffrah?"
"No! I wanna stay in school," Saffrah said firmly. "Right I'll get the service ready for when you get home."
"Oh no you want. Saffrah's safety is in danger with you. I'm going to make some phone calls. She's certainly not coming home with you tonight." Ms Bee's anger resulted in her hand rising to slap the face of this rescue wonder woman. Her wonder was revealed when Ms Stein's hand could go as far as 10 centimeters from her face before slamming it into what seemed to be a wall of fire. Ms Bee screamed in anguish, gave her deadliest gaze and literally flew out of the front door.

One thing Love said was "In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would not have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:2-3)

With soooo many things fighting for our attention these days, it is important to realise that we must not get caught up in these things and we must be careful to treasure them in our hearts. What we treasure in our hearts, often is given power to rule over us. Especially if those treasures disappoint or fail us. Proverbs 4:23 'Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.' There will be a time when Jesus receives us to be with Him in heaven, but I pray that our hearts will be filled with Him. The message of the Kingdom Seekers is ever resounding 'Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all other things shall be added onto you.' This is a timely truth. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. Don't worry about anything else! All other things shall be added! : )

7. Beside Still Waters

There's something calming about water. Over the past few months, I've found myself either walking besides or jumping into (wooo!) rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Each time Father has something similar to say to me. And this will be the inspiration for this next episode. Taken from Psalm 23. Not only have I received such blessing recently, but our prefect Max, from episode 5 is also about to encounter such beauty.

Max the seven year old prefect, practically created the role for himself upon arrival at the Carlton Pearse Primary school with his neat, prim and orderly fashion. Everyday he arrived to school wearing his perfectly pressed schoolboy shorts, uncreased coloured polo-shirt, teamed with his whiter than white tennis socks and polished loafers; and everyday he returned home exactly the way he came. Not a scratch, stain of dirt or crease of shirt. And if you weren't already staring at him, his intense blue eyes and perfectly slicked blonde hair, would definitely be a cause to start. He was surely striking and all the girls in all years new it. You could almost picture him being the next bond in the future.

Although Max had a strong concern for order, Max was fascinated by nature. Being the rich kid, Max's back-garden might as well have been its very own nature reserve. There was beautifully crafted tree house right in the center of a colourful array of wildflowers, and towering over a glistening water fountain. And to top it all off, at the back of their garden, ran a river, formed over hundreds of years, into the hills a few miles away. As the only child, Max only had nature to play with. But he didn't mind. There was something about studying the plants and sitting beside the river that captured his little heart.

One sunday after breakfast his busy parents hurried out and Max decided to go to one of his favourite parts of the river. The waterfall. It wasn't a large one, but the current flowing down the glistening spotty stones were rapid enough to create rushing sounds of many waters. It was a beautiful day with a lovely summer breeze and the air smelt fresh, partly due to the water being purified below. Taking off his socks and shoes, Max sat at the edge of the bank and dangled his little feet into the waterfall. "Ahrrr", Max giggled, not expecting the water to be as cold as it was. He took a deep breath and enjoyed the water splashing against his feet. "I wonder who created all of this... There must be a creator...". Max pondered on these thoughts a little longer, then gazed up at the cherry tree towering over him. Max was amazed at such natural beauty. This was definitely, one his favourite places in the world.

By the time Max got home his mother had just got back from shopping and she was unloading her items while taking deep draws from her expensive cigarette. How she managed to multitask Max never knew. "Mum?" Max quizzed. "Who created the world?"
"God did hunny", she said as the smoke particles left her mouth. "Who is God?"
"I dunno Maxi."(His full name being Maximillion) "Well how do I find him?" Max's mother chuckled, almost choking on her last puff. "He's invisible love." She paused for a second. "Invisible?"
"Yes, like you can't see him"
"Mum, I know what invisible means. But that is not good, because I would really like to meet him."
"Great nana, always mentioned God when I was your age, before she went to hea.... HEAVEN! That's where God is!"
"Well how do I get there? Where is it?"
"Errm..," Max's mother didn't want to tell him that he had to die first so she said, "Well, I heard it's in the sky somewhere but I don't actually know how to get there. Sorry love. In fact, hold on a minute...", by this time she reached into the cellar under the staircase. "Great nana, left me this when I was a little girl." She blew the dust off of the book till it read 'Holy Bible'. "Here you go. You can have this. I think it will tell you a little more about God!"
"Ahh cool! Thanks mum!" And with that, Max ran off into the garden and climbed up the 19 steps to his treehouse (just like the date of his birth), and plopped himself on his multi-coloured beanbag.

He peered out of the small window, which gave view to the beautifully crafted gardens in the neighbourhood, the river and the distant hills. "God. If you're up in the sky, I'm much closer to you now up here. I hope you can hear me better. I really want to know who you are. Mum says this book will tell me more about you. It's a pretty big book too. So I guess there's much to learn because your pretty big. Maybe that's why the world's big too!" Max paused and pondered on his last statement. "Woaah!! That's cool. I want to be you're friend. Will you be my friend?" And with that he opened up the bible to its contents page. After turning the page, he read in large letters, 'Genesis'. Underneath he saw a big '1' and decided to read out loud. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Max's draw dropped. He had found his answer. He continued reading... "Then God said "Let there be light", and there was light! Woaaah!" Max continued reading. "God you created the sun, animals, sea, land and trees with your voice! That's amazing! I knew you'd be amazing!" Max read further. "And you made me too! Wow!! Then, does that mean like, you're my father?" Max was excited about what he was learning so he continued reading. By the end of chapter 3, Max had also learnt that the serpent had tricked Eve and that both she and Adam had disappointed God.

For a young boy, he'd done quite a bit of reading, more than he'd ever done in such a long period of time. So he decided to go for a walk along the river bank. Still in awe, and in wonder of the beauty surrounding him, Max tripped over a branch and fell over. The bible dropped out of his hand, and as the pages flicked amidst gravity, he caught a glimpse of yellow. Eager to find out what it was and unbothered about his current position, he flicked through the pages to find the yellow. When he finally found it, it was a small post-it note with a fading message because it was so old. It read "Sherry, may God be your shepherd for life (Psalm 23)". Before he decided to read it, Max picked himself up and decided to sit closer to the river. He wanted to hear the water passing by as he read.

Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

As he read these lines out loud, he felt a sudden peace come over him. He didn't know what it was but it felt better and reached deeper than the sounds of water. In that moment, he realised God was with him and a tear rolled down his cheek. Little did he know but his soul had been restored.
